Year 6
This half term the children are starting a 6 week History Topic on World War II. The children will be Investigating the causes of WW2; learning about the Battle of Britain; investigating the impact of the Blitz and evacuation on people’s lives; and evaluating the effectiveness of primary sources.
In reading this term, we are reading a book by Michael Morpurgo 'Private Peaceful'.
We will be looking at each chapter closely focusing on different reading skills, such as, prediction, retrieval, inference, vocabulary and summary.
In English this term our focus will be on Myths and Legends and Diary writing. The children will cover sentence structure, punctuation (. , ; “ ”), direct speech, chronological order, time connectives and much more!
In Maths our focus will be on place value up to 1,000,000 and arithmetic.
Our Science topic this half term is 'Animals including Humans' where we will Identify and name the main parts of the human circulatory system, and describe the functions of the heart, blood vessels and blood
